Is it the same as going to the beach?

The effects of breathing in the dry salt aerosol in our salt room are far greater than breathing in the wet air from the ocean. Wet salt can only reach the upper airways.  Dry salt is able to reach both lower and upper respiratory tracts.

Can I bring my electronics?

Yes, and the salt room has internet access available. We suggest you place your device in a clear Ziploc bag as we are not responsible for samaged items. BSY is not responsible for items damaged while using the salt room.

What should I wear?

Loose comfortable clothing that you can relax in would be best. The salt in the air will not damage your clothes or be noticeably visable. You will be given disposable shoe covers to slip over your feet.

What should I expect my experience to be like?

Basically just sit back and relax!  We provide music in the room if you desire. Also provided are comfortable chairs to recline and relax. The room is covered from floor to ceiling in salt and offers a very serene and comfortable environment.

Is salt therapy safe for children?

Salt therapy is completely natural and is safe for children. There are no potential harmful side effects and children typically respond quicker than adults.

How does salt therapy work?

Our Halogerator machine grinds salt into micrometers to produce a dry salt aerosol. The Halogenerator is located on the outside of the salt room. During your 45 minute session, the salt aerosol travels to the deepest part of your lungs and respiratory tract. The salt dissolves the bacteria and pollutants to expel mucous and open constricted airways.

How many sessions does it take?

This will vary by individual, and the condition being treated is a big factor. Milder symptoms may disappear within a couple visits. Some people feel relief after just one session. Those with chronic conditions most likely need to come twice a week for 6-8 weeks.

Do I need to stop taking medications?

No, as salt therapy is all natural and does not interact with medications. In fact, many people become less dependent on medications after salt therapy treatments.

Side effects?

On rare occasions individuals have experienced a tickle in the throat which can be treated by gargling warm water. Highly sensitive guests may experience a slight skin irritation or red patches. Typically these disappear after a few sessions.

Are there concerns about salt therapy?

During your Halotherapy session you are inhaling a dry salt aerosol which only enters your respiratory system not your digestive tract. The salt particles are of a microscopic nature. Even if you were to eat that amount it would not pose a risk to your health.

Is there clinical evidence and research to support salt therapy?

Salt therapy has been studied in research clinics around the world. Research has proven that Halotherapy can be effective in treating respiratory, sinus and skin conditions, amongst many other conditions. Clinical research and medical studies can be found through a simple google search or on PUBMED.
